Africa's energy challenge: modernize to accelerate

Africa is experiencing the world's fastest growth in electricity demand. By 2030, the continent will need to double its installed generation capacity to support rapid urbanization, industrialization and universal access to electricity — a goal driven by the African Union's Agenda 2063 and national programs such as CI-ENERGIES 2030 in Côte d'Ivoire.

But generating more is not enough: we must distribute better. Today, MV (medium-voltage) distribution networks in West Africa suffer from 15 to 25% technical losses, excessively long restoration times after incidents, and supervision that is still largely manual. Power network telecontrol — real-time remote control of distribution infrastructure through SCADA systems, RTU controllers and IEC 60870 protocols — is the technical answer to these challenges. It reduces losses, accelerates fault detection and isolation, and ensures the continuity of service essential for economic development.

In parallel, strengthening the HV transmission grid (63 kV, 90 kV, 225 kV) is vital to interconnect generation centers with consumption areas and neighboring countries via ECOWAS corridors. The construction of new HV substations, equipped with digital protection systems and IEC 61850 control, forms the backbone of this transformation.

It is in this context that ENERTEC deploys its expertise in Côte d'Ivoire, Burkina Faso and Guinea — three markets at the heart of West Africa's energy dynamic, where network modernization is no longer an option but a strategic necessity.

Our areas of operation

Three countries, one ambition

ENERTEC deploys its expertise in MV network telecontrol and HV substation construction in three West African countries, with the entire continent on the horizon.

  • Nationwide presence
  • Charles KONAN BANI Stadium - Yamoussoukro
  • University of Odienné - 15 kV remote-controlled load-break switch
  • Headquarters and teams based in Abidjan
Burkina Faso
Under development

ENERTEC is extending its expertise in MV network telecontrol and electrical infrastructure to Burkina Faso, supporting the modernization of the national grid.

  • MV network SCADA system deployment
  • Studies and engineering for HV substations
  • Partnerships with local sector players
  • Training of Burkinabè technicians
Guinea
Under development

Guinea represents a strategic market for ENERTEC, with significant needs for modernization of power transmission and distribution infrastructure.
